The complex management of this specialized patient population requires multidisciplinary expertise to achieve the best outcomes. The purpose of this symposium is to provide healthcare professionals with an overview of advances in the care of pediatric oncology patients undergoing surgery. Focused topics will include advances in surgical approaches, development of the interdisciplinary team, evidence-based and research initiatives in pediatric oncology as well as access to care and the supportive services that ensure an optimal patient and family experience. The goal of the program is to provide content that enables healthcare professionals to deliver state-of-the-art collaborative care, improve patient outcomes, and enhance quality of life. This well-rounded symposium will incorporate lectures, panels, and case presentations from world-renowned experts as well as our pediatric patients and families to optimize learning and engage an audience of diverse healthcare professionals practicing in this specialty. The target audience for this symposium includes physicians, certified registered nurse anesthetist, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and other healthcare professionals who care for the pediatric oncology patient who is undergoing surgery.
